The 2012 edition of the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil was held from February 17 to 21.

This popular International Festival gathered near the 850,000 Brazilian and foreign tourists. This figure is up 20% compared to 2011.
Rio Carnival is also the time of a competition that pits the 12 best samba schools in the city each with 3,000 to 5,000 members. They parade in the famous Sambadrome Avenue Sapucai Brands. Bleachers along this long avenue feast on 500 meters. These bleachers can accommodate more than 50,000 spectators. However, the show is now in the streets of the city where other shows are improvised, giving an air of Rio unbridled and crazy party. Music is everywhere, squares, gardens and hotel lounges, inviting tourists to a riot of joy. To find many popular and stylish dances, there is something for everyone! These evenings are often dressed up with music and dancers. The ball of the most chic carnival takes place at the Copacabana Palace and the most popular are held at Rio Scenarium and La Scala.
